Care

Lapis Lazuli Care Guide

Lapis lazuli is a natural gemstone with a beautiful deep-blue surface that can be sensitive to water, chemicals, and abrasion. With a few simple habits, it will stay glossy and vibrant for years.

Daily care

  • Put jewellery on last: apply skincare, perfume, hairspray and makeup first, then wear your lapis.
  • Remove before water: take off before showering, swimming, baths, hot tubs, and washing dishes.
  • Avoid chemicals: keep away from cleaning products, chlorine, alcohol-based sanitiser, and strong detergents.
  • Avoid impact + scratches: lapis can chip or scratch if knocked against hard surfaces—store it separately.

Cleaning (safe method)

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth after wear.
  • If needed, use a slightly damp cloth (water only), then dry immediately.
  • For settings and metal, use a soft cloth carefully around the stone (don’t scrub the lapis surface).

What to avoid (important)

  • Ultrasonic cleaners / steam cleaning
  • Jewellery dips and chemical polishing liquids
  • Abrasive cloths or toothpaste/baking soda “DIY hacks”
  • Long soaks in water
